Innovative maternal health services to expand access to personalized, reliable care
6/15/2026
CHRISTUS Health welcomed community members and media to CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital for an exclusive preview of a new model maternal health room designed to transform care for mothers and babies across Southwest Louisiana.
The event highlighted an innovative approach to maternal and infant care that centers on reliable, personal and accessible support for every family. The room reflects CHRISTUS Health’s commitment to advancing maternal health outcomes while creating a welcoming, supportive environment tailored to patient needs.
During the tour, attendees experienced the space’s design and intent, shared feedback to refine the model and learned how community partnerships can help expand access to care throughout the region. The initiative aims to strengthen continuity of care, enhance patient experience and address barriers that too often limit access to high-quality maternal services.
The maternal health room serves as a prototype for future expansion, with plans to scale similar spaces and services across Southwest Louisiana. Through this effort, CHRISTUS seeks to ensure more families can access timely prenatal, delivery and postpartum care in an environment that supports their physical and emotional well-being. The preview aligns with the mission of the CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation, which supports programs that improve health equity and access to care.
“Community members, business leaders and partners are encouraged to support this work by making a philanthropic gift to the foundation,” said Patricia Prudhomme, executive director, CHRISTUS Ochsner Southwestern Louisiana Foundation. “Donations will help expand maternal and infant care programs, enhance patient-centered spaces and ensure more families receive the reliable, personal and accessible care they deserve.”
Together, CHRISTUS Health and its partners aim to reimagine what care looks like for mothers and babies across the region and to deliver a stronger, healthier future for Southwest Louisiana families.
